One of my favourite holidays is Halloween! Every year I like to dress up in a horror costume, organize a party and watch horror movies with some friends!
In the Netherlands, they don’t really celebrate this feast a lot like in the US. Mostly horror lovers and people in sub-cultures tend to spend the effort. As for me and my friends, we are all extreme horror lovers! So on 31th of October, we all come together dressed in awesome costumes and play games or watch movies.
In this blog, I will talk about:
– Halloween Decorations;
– Halloween Costumes;
– Halloween Activities;
– Halloween Party Snacks.
For this year, we had the ability to organize the party at our apartment! we decorated our home with skeletons, spiders, cockroaches, spiderwebs, lanterns and pumpkins.
This year I wanted to dress up like a haunted girl. I took the character, Samara of the Ring, as an example of how I wanted to look. I bought a black long wig and a nightgown for the costume. My sister did the make-up. She didn’t want to make the creepy make-up version, so the did a pretty version. 😛
This picture below is a beautiful action photo of Jeen blowing up a balloon! ^^ He was dressed in a radioactive suit. 🙂
During the party, it is really great to catch up with everybody! Some friends I haven’t seen in a while. Everyone lives so far away from each other, so meeting face to face can be difficult. But personally, I like to have some extra activities planned to keep the party going. This we started carving pumpkins for the first time in my life! So that was really exciting 😀 Other things we did were playing a board game and watch a Horror movie in the evening.
As a Halloween Party activity, we were carving the pumpkins! We had three big pumpkins so we all make a different face. 😛 Two pumpkin faces were quite scary with their laughing face, while the other one was more funny and crazy, haha 🙂
Jeen is a complete board game fan. We have a whole collection of board games. Because of Halloween, we thought about playing a ‘horror’ game. So we choose for the ‘Betrayal at House on the Hill.’ It’s really an epic game! You play a character and with the whole group you go to the house and discover the house, room by room. For some rooms, you get an Omen, and Item of an Event. Eventually, the game changes, the scenario start and one of the players is the betrayer… 😀
And of course, what is a Halloween Party without some Horror movies?? When it was finally dark outside, we started to look on Netflix for some great horror movies. At first sight, it was quite difficult to te find the right movie. Because everyone had already seen one of the movies. Eventually, we choose for Veronica (2017). It’s a Spanish horror movie, but personally, I would not recommend it. XD Hehe…
Halloween Party Snacks!
We also made some super delicious and cute Halloween appetizers for the party. The first one was the Mummy (Veggie) Meatballs, second the Devils Eggs, third the Cheese Broomsticks, forth was the Veggie Skeleton with Tzatziki sauce and at last the Spaghetti (Veggie) Meatball.
Mummy (Veggie) Meatballs
The Mummy Veggie Meatballs were quite easy to make. What you need is veggie meatballs, croissant dough, mozzarella and black olives. Preheat the oven to 200 Celsius. Cut the croissant dough in strips and take three veggie balls and wrap it in the croissant dough. Put the Mummy Meatballs in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, cut mini circle pieces of the mozzarella and black olives (for the eyes of the mummy). When the Mummy Meatballs are done in the oven. Add the eyes with mozzarella first and then the black olives. In the end, you can make a salsa or Chili sauce dip it. Enjoy!!
For the Devils Eggs, you need to boil the eggs for 10 minutes. After that, cool all the eggs and cut in the length in half. Scoop the egg yolks with a spoon and add it in a bowl. add some salt, pepper, some avocado and mayonnaise. Mix this all together, add this in the piping bag and fill this back in the egg. Add some red pepper pieces for the devil’s horns. Enjoy!
The Cheese Broomsticks are also super easy and delicious. For this dish, you need pretzel sticks, cheese strings and chives. Make it like this and you’re done! Enjoy 😀
This one is one of my favourite snacks. It’s plain, healthy but delicious. All you need is some carrots, peppers, cucumber and tzatziki sauce. We also added some chives, basil and black olives for the face.
For dinner, we made some Spaghetti Bolognese with mozzarella and black olives (again, for the eyes).
Happy Halloween! 😀
Hope you liked this blog about my Halloween Party! Next year again 😀
